Glenn Winslade is an Australian operatic tenor known for his interpretations of Florestan (Fidelio), the title roles in Rienzi, Lohengrin, Tannhäuser, Idomeneo and La clemenza di Tito. Other roles include Der Kaiser (Die Frau ohne Schatten), Apolllo (Daphne), Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Max (Der Freischutz). In his early career, Glenn specialised in the operas of Mozart and sang Tamino, Don Ottavio, Ferrando, Belmonte plus other roles including Alfredo, Duca, Nemorino, Ernesto, Faust and Nadir.
He has appeared with Opera Australia, Metropolitan Opera NY, Royal Opera Covent Garden, Glyndebourne Festival, Bayreuth Festival, Bregenz Festival, Edinburgh Festival and opera theatres and concert houses in Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden, Stuttgart, Freiburg, Frankfurt, Vienna, Zurich, Venice, Rome, Monte Carlo, Paris, Madrid, Lisbon, Brussels, Amsterdam and Moscow.
Conductors he has worked with include Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Bernard Haitink, Christian Thielemann, Sir Colin Davis, Sir Andrew Davis, Simone Young, Richard Bonynge, Christoph von Dohnányi, Sir Charles Mackerras, Marc Minkowski, Edo de Waart, Carlo Felice Cillario and John Fiore.
Since retiring from the stage, Glenn has become one of Australia’s most sought after voice teachers and has a busy private studio in Sydney. He was formerly a senior lecturer in voice at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music at Griffith University and has given numerous masterclasses in the UK and Australia.
Glenn returns to the NZ Opera School as International Vocal Tutor for the fourth time in January 2026.
