21 students will be chosen to participate in the School from Sunday 5th January until Sunday 19th January 2025. The closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 31st July 2024.

Please note, due to funding requirements at this time the NZ Opera School is only open to New Zealand Citizens or Residents over 18 years of age.

You are required to submit three opera arias to perform and work on at the School. (Oratorio arias are not acceptable) They must be arias you have worked on previously and have fully committed to memory. Please ensure that all information entered below is spelled correctly.

Please note that you are not limited to the three aria's that you select here, there will be opportunities to discuss with your tutors if throughout the school period you wish to work on any others, however a minimal of three arias must be submitted as part of this application process.

Regardless of whether you are a first-time applicant or have previously attended the school, you must provide an audio or video recording (or both) of an accompanied performance of a minimum of one aria (preferably two) with your application. In addition, ALL applicants (returning and new) are required to submit a recent headshot.

2. A non-refundable deposit of $150.00 of the total fee of $1,500.00 is payable upon acceptance into the NZ Opera School.

3. You are able to perform your three submitted arias from memory.

4. You agree to participate in any ensemble opportunities provided by the school.

5. You agree to respect and comply with all instructions regarding the day-to-day operation of the school as given by the Directors.

6. If selected and upon accepting the placement at the 2023 NZ Opera School, that you agreed to mention your attendance at the school in future bio's and reference in your respective music careers, which includes any bio's mentioned in programmes and publicity materials.
