Applications for the 2026 New Zealand Opera School open on 1st June 2025.

We can’t wait to see who will join us for the 32nd New Zealand Opera School in Whanganui. It will be a special School with so much to celebrate!

Apply to attend NZOS 2026

Please complete this application form to apply for the 2026 New Zealand Opera School.

21 students will be chosen to participate in the School from Sunday 4th January until Sunday 18th January 2026.  The closing date for applications is 5pm on Thursday 31st July 2025.

Please note, due to funding requirements at this time the NZ Opera School is only open to New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents over 18 years of age.

Sending audio and video files

The application process requires you to submit video and/or audio files of some of your past performances. This can be done in two ways:

  • Sharing a folder from a cloud file storage service such as OneDrive, Google Drive or DropBox.
  • Using a file transfer service such as WeTransfer.
Sending files with WeTransfer
  1. Click here to go to WeTransfer.
  2. Accept the Cookies policy and Terms of Service.
  3. Click the three horizontal dots button.
  1. Choose the Create Link option.
  1. Click Add Files (or Add Folder) to add your files to the transfer.
  1. Enter your email address.
  2. Click Expiry and choose the free 3-day option.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Choose Anonymous Downloads.
  5. Click Get a Link.
  6. WeTransfer will send a verification code to your email address. Enter the code and click Verify & Send.
  7. Paste the link into the file sharing field in the application form, or email the link directly to us if you have already completed the form.
